About

Respira is founded on 3 guiding principles:

Awareness, Accessibility, and Human Potential.

Every mission has a beginning, and mine was…well…

RAW. REVEALING. NECESSARY.

My name is Cristina. At 16,after some time spent living like I had 9 lives to spare, it all culminated into a car accident and consequently a traumatic brain injury. I was treated with opioids in the ICU, leading to widespread addiction and a chaotic lifestyle that impacted me physically, emotionally, spiritually, and my family deeply.

Before I committed to my sobriety, it took more visits to rehab centers and hospitals than I can even count on one hand. Taking the steps to discover what was ready to unfold under all these painful layers of unhealthy coping mechanisms was the BEST decision in my LIFE. What followed in the years to come was a physical and spiritual awakening of my potential as an individual and as a community member.

Through the guidance I received from spiritual healers, community members, and my family—-I discovered the power of the Nervous System and how much it reflects our inner and outer reality. And my key to this discovery was Breathwork and Meditation. After all, they both go hand in hand.

In the years following my awakening to full potential, I earned an MBA in International Business, concentrating in Global Affairs. This vibrant energy propelled me across North, Central, and South America, where I immersed myself in diverse spiritual traditions, honed my native Spanish, and trekked through majestic mountain ranges and lush jungles.

Today, I dedicate myself to guiding community members toward their own potential through holistic practices. In teaching, I continually deepen my own learning.

The Method:

The meditative practice of Breathwork has existed across cultures and healing institutions for centuries. At its core, breathwork utilizes intentional, synchronized breathing to channel energy in and out of our bodies and consequently bringing us to a state of clear awareness.

In China——it’s essential to Qi Gong practice.

In India—Prana energy is channeled through breathwork.

In Christianity—-Breath Prayers have been practiced by monks & Celtics.

In Shamanism--Intentional breathing is a core of sweat lodge ceremonies to detoxify and balance the energy centers of the body.

Breathwork serves as a moment to come to a pure state of presence with yourself, allowing for inner-reflection to come to fruition and channeling our innate inner power and light.

If you, like I do, believe that our bodies are vessels of discovery and creation—then the SCIENCE that backs breathwork will amaze you and hopefully interest you in realizing the potential of this practice:

Cerebral Effects

  • Nervous System Shift: Deep breathing activates the vagus nerve, stimulating the parasympathetic system and sympathetic nervous systems. Our nervous systems influence all our 6 senses, memory capacity, sleep, & healing.

  • Brainwave Regulation: Promotes alpha and theta waves (relaxation/learning) while reducing stress-related beta waves, enhancing calm and focus.

  • Neurotransmitter & Hormone Balance: Reduces cortisol and emits dopamine/serotonin which influence neural circuits that regulate emotional states, lowering anxiety and depression.

Body Effects

  • Metabolic: Can improve blood glucose levels and reduce lactic acid buildup.

  • Oxygenation: Balances oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in the blood, improving overall cellular function & loading your brain cells with more oxygen.
